Another Great Megaman Game
The most interesting part of this game is that you can play as the bad guy Bass, which I enjoyed. Bass can shoot his blaster on diagonals and double jump, these differences completely change how the levels are played and especially boss battles. Bass is also larger than Megaman making him an easy target for attacks. The game moves at a good pace with a good variety of shooting enemies and platforming. The jumping feels really smooth even better than Mario games, making it easier to time jumps and dodge enemy attacks. Although the controls are not perfect, double tapping left or right to dash is a bit difficult especially with such a small game pad and can be frustrating some times. The special weapons are cool, such as an ice wall which can be used to jump higher from or pushed to slide across the screen and wipe out enemies. One thing I liked about the special weapons in this game is that I actually used them all the time throughout the levels, unlike some other megaman games where I just stuck to the normal blaster. You can collect bolts which can be traded in for equipable parts to increase your parameters. A new addition here is that in each level there are CDs that can be collected, some are easy to find and others are behind hidden walls. Each CD unlocks a character from the megaman series that can be viewed in a gallery and accompanied by a sometimes humorous biography. The boss battles were superb, the bosses had a wide array of attacks that needed to be evaded for victory. Overall, the game is simply fun to play.
Graphics
The graphics look great they are bright, colourful, and well drawn in that distinctive Megaman style. This game almost looks as good as Megaman 8 for PS1.
Music
The music sounds awesome and fits the atmosphere with a futuristic synthesized sound. The sound effects are loud and dramatic just like a cartoon.
Value
Megaman and Bass has great value because there are 12 unique levels, each of a good length. The differences in game play experience between the two characters and the enjoyment of the levels make it worth while to go through the game with both characters.
Tilt
Being a Megaman fan I thought this game was great and perfect for any Megaman fan because it has cool levels, bosses, and special weapons. It would have been nice if there were more story sequences in the game, but at least the final endings were pretty good.
