Here we have a game that takes the best of a series of games that has set the standard for side-scrolling action as we know it. The Blue Bomber returns packing 8 smash hits, and 2 sleeper titles that have hardly seen the light of day. This compilation is taken from the PSone Books series that is being released in Japan for certain games. These were originally released seperate in Japan with graphical enchancments to the sub-weapon screens and navigation menus. They also featured a way to link up the Pocketstation, which is not featured in the U.S. compilation release. I'm sure everyone has atleast played, or heard of Mega Man. If you havent, you're behind the power curve. The Anniversary Collection Edition features new menus, the ability to save your game via memory card, and even a Gallery mode to view pictures and other goodies. The most significant changes are the menus and the music. You can now switch weapons in the original NES games using the shoulder buttons so you can fight on the fly. There is also a Navi mode, where you will be given hints on how to navigate tough spots. The game even features an Easy mode option for you Mega Man newcomers. The compilation features enhanced versions of: Mega Man 1-6 (NES), Mega Man 7(SNES), and Mega Man 8(PS1). The two other games are Mega Man the Power Battles 1 & 2, which are unlocked after fulfilling certain gameplay conditions. These two were originally released for the arcade. They are Fighting style games that pit you bosses of the Mega Man series. This two part series also marks the first Mega Man games where you can play as Proto Man and Duo (Mega Man 8). If you're a fan of the series, look no further for Mega Man goodness. If you're a newcomer and havent played the series before, there is no better place to start than with the whole original collection on one disc. Let's thank CAPCOM for taking the compilation fever and taking it to the next level and showing us how it's done!
