For the longest time, I never really thought much about the Classic "Mega Man" games made for the Game Boy, save for "Mega Man V". While I've tried playing the originals on Game Boy and even the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, I didn't think much about their game-play value, for a very good reason. As far as I was concerned, there wasn't much value to be had, especially for THIS game, because despite being the Shortest "Mega Man" Game Boy Game, it is about as HARD as HARD can be, even rivaling the ORIGINAL NES "Mega Man" game! What makes this game hard, is that you don't have a Charge Shot, you don't have Rush, and the only equivalent you get to Rush is a device called a Carry, which you have to use strategically as a Stepping Stone. So what has changed to make me want to give this game a 9 score? The fact that this game has finally appeared on the Nintendo Switch via the Game Boy Virtual Console Service, which not only allows you to MERCIFULLY save your progress when you need to (preferably AFTER you've beaten a tough boss), but also allows you to rewind your progress in order to conserve your very valuable health and weapon energy levels. You'll especially need it against the Final Boss, which can only be damaged by the weapon you get from beating this game's unique Boss master, Enker; the Mirror Buster which allows you to reflect Dr. Wily's projectiles back at him, in order to damage him. The graphics, music, sound, and controls are all pretty great for the first attempt at having "Mega Man" on a Game Boy game, it's only the SHEER challenge of this game that prevents the game from being ranked any higher. But beat this game, and you can consider yourself a TRUE "Mega Man" champion! Enough said, true believers!
