Rocking The Old School

User Rating: 8.6 | Irregular Hunter X PSP
Maverick Hunter X is simply Mega Man X for the SNES shoved into a new 3d format. Is this a good thing? Hell yes. The original Mega Man X took the concept of the more cutesy digital megaman and shoved him into a far out futuristic anime sci-fi world full of crime by robots and into a Maverick Hunting group.

You obviously play the game as Mega Man , or more known as X in this game and assume his role as a not so recognized Maverick Hunter. Along the game of gaining abilities you are always proven as an old school Hunter but as per usual, you prove everyone wrong.

I found small chugs in the framerate here and there but nothing to serious or gameplay shattering. Just when many objects are on screen at once makes me think they could've left a couple things 2d in a nice style to make up the frames.

If you pull the story in the right order of bosses, the game is fairly easy, do it wrong however and your punished with a tough fight and sometimes impossible. This leaves frustration and sometimes pure bliss when you find yourself in a difficult situation but manage to survive.

Storm Tornado > Every other weapon.

The inclusions of small voice clips in game before boss fights and for story benefit is actually a touch I really enjoyed as reviewing my memory of the megaman game the original game seemed rather bland for that, but back then Mega Man was all about the ass wooping, not the story.

The Mega Man X videos are a welcome treat as well as the special bonus of playing as another character *won't spoil*, it's probably not the character you want to play as though.

Graphics in comparison to the original is..uncomparable. If you love 2d, you'll probably love this game anyway because the 3d is so well done it's just that damn good.

I found the game as a great addition into Capcom's PSP invasion and although repeating with X2 and X3 wouldn't be that great of an addition in 3D, I hope that megaman will still thrive on this system.
