Megaman X+Pretzels=OH MAH GAWD

User Rating: 8.3 | Mega Man X Collection PS2
Intro
What can I say? Is there anyone who doesn't know of Megaman by now? Well, anyway, this game compiles the first six Megaman X games. All of these great games put in to one package really is worth money, and even more so if you've never played a Megaman game before.

Story
The Megaman X games all have their own story, although most of the time, you're out to battle Sigma, the main villain of the Megaman X games, leader of the mavericks. You take control of X, a robot built with the intent of stopping the Mavericks, and in later games, Zero, X's friend and a specialist in Maverick hunting. The story really isn't that much of a strong point for the Megaman games, but it doesn't matter too much.

Gameplay
Plenty of platforming and shooting action. The game let's you choose the stages in any order after the initial intro stage. You are quite often blasting enemies out of the way using X's main weapon-the X buster. When you aren't, you're jumping from platform to platform, trying to avoid falling on top of spikes, in to pits, or any other thing that poses a threat to you. At the end of each stage, you'll encounter a boss. Each boss has its own unique pattern that you'll want to observe if you want to defeat it. After beating it, X will gain that boss's skill. All of the skills are fairly varied, so in the end, X will have quite an arsenal of weapons. Then in the later games where you can control Zero instead of X, the abilities gained from bosses are slightly different. They seem to improve on Zero's skill with the Z-saber rather than granting you new moves. Each X game has plenty of unlockables and goodies to find, too. The games are very addictive, and should keep you occupied for a while.

Music
The music has definitely been one of the high points of the Megaman series. Fans of old will be able to relieve their old memories, while new fans will be surprised at how good the music is. The quality is fine, and the same can be said for the sounds.

Graphics
The Graphics are great, even though others may disagree. For their time they were great, and even now they hold up pretty well, most notably the later X games.
