A landmark for the Megaman Series. Theres nothing quite like it.
On with the review.
Megaman X is a sidescrolling shooting game in which you move sideways and kill enemies, like any other sidescroller I've ever played. At the beginning of the game you are just a regular blue Megaman X in the year 200X. You start in this broken down city where there are several bad guys, roads are breaking, giant bees are running amok, and then come across Vile and his band of loveable loser people who dont know how to ride motorcycles. You begin to fight Vile, but he shoots this net thing that traps you and slowly kills you. Lukcily, your friend Zero comes and cuts you free. Vile gets away and you and Zero warp away. In Megaman X, you play as Megaman and you basically pick a bad guy, play through the level, and hope you have enough health and skill to beat the boss after. The bosses are all an animal robot with a certain element.
Spoiler*!* The bosses are:
Launch Octopus, Chill Penguin, Spark Mandrill, Storm Eagle, Flame Mammoth, Armored Armodillo, Boomer Kuwanger and Sting Chameleon.
Now all of these bosses you can fight in a Rock Paper Scissor manor. Such as, water against ice, earth against thunder, fire against grass etc.
The controls are simple enough. Move, Jump, Shoot, Dash. Which is good, because you dont really have time to think, so you'll need to know what buttons do what.
The music sounds great. Megaman games have a tendancy to do techno and it sounds great in this game. The different levels have a different sort of theme to it which changes it up a bit.
This game is fantastic. Any person can pick this game up and enjoy it. Some people dont enjoy side scrollers, but anybody and I mean anybody can not only play but enjoy what this game has to offer.
