One of the best games on the market.

Let me state that I am a fairly avid gamer, but by no means am I a huge gamer. I enjoy a good action or adventure game, staying far far away from RPGs and turn-based affairs. (Bring on the hate mail!) Mercenaries is a free roaming game where you, a single operative, are sent into a very crowded, very unstable North Korea. The Americans, South Koreans, Russian Mafia, and Chinese are all clamoring for your support and are not shy about sending you against the other factions for their gain. This can get you into sticky situations. Lets say the Chinese send you to attack a South Korean outpost. You complete the task, but now the South Koreans are, well, lets just say they're not happy with you. (As in shooting you on sight!) You need to get info form the factions to progress in the game, and now the South Koreans certaintly are'nt going to give any info. Luckily you can give them some "financial reimberciment" and everyone will be happy again. You can also choose what method to achieve a goal. Lets go back to the South Korean outpost situation. You could A.) take a chopper and strike from the top, B.) run in on foot with a rocket launcher on your back and a machine gun in your hands, C.) charge in with a vehicle, either rocket or machine gun armed, D.) strap some C4 on the hood of a civilian car and have some good ol' fun, or E.) my favorite, calling down a huge airstrike and blow the **** out of everything. Its the dynamic faction system and freedom of achieving goals that make Mercenaries great. I have'nt even scratched the surface of everything Mercenaries offers, and there is still some things that I have yet to discover. That is a mark of a truly great game.
