Not a superb game but a great game if one wants to experience a nice story with great action.

While the game might not be a "classic" this is, for all purposes, a great game to play if one seeks a decent first person shooter with robots. There are hilarious moments interspread with some really tough battles. The game plays from a third person perspective but really feels like a FPS. The graphics are fairly decent and the game does not slow down even when there are multiple enemies and lasers, missiles, and bombs are flying all around. The frame rate is stabilized due to a weird effect where a clear line washes over the entire screen every so often. While this does not affect the graphics, one does start to wonder if it is the television or the console, but fear not, it is the game in order to allow the game to run at a smooth pace. The dialogue in the game is actually quite funny at times with supporting characters giving praises if you do well and being down right nasty if you fail. There is one character who swears enough to peel off paint, but the words are usually bleeped out for some reason. The controls are responsive but it gets a little bit getting use to if one were to play other first person shooters like Halo. There are no dual yielding and the game even pauses if one were to change weapons giving off the sense that you are in a video game instead of the main character. While this is quite minor, the control scheme could have been changed to give this a better feel. There are small platform elements to reach certain heights but this helps by breaking up the intense action. The best portion of the game is the boss fight. The bosses are really big and scary with punishing damages but once one figures out certain patterns, the boss can be manageable. Multi-player, it will be hard to get one's friends to learn another control scheme, especially if one were to play other first person shooters. However, once that barrier has been broken, it is actually quite fun to laugh at your friends robot being blown up into itty bitty pieces. Overrall, this is a great buy if one enjoys a great enjoyable time blowing up robots with a nice story and great non-playable characters giving off funny one liners. While this may not garner new fans to the FPS genre and may even turn off some people due to the control scheme, it is a fun game that will take at around 12-17 hours to finish.
