Like the original? You'll love the sequel.
This isn't to say that it strays too far from the tree - MGA2 borrows heavily in terms of gameplay from the original Acid. If you played the original game you will pretty much know what to expect: card collecting, deck building, planning, turn-based fun. The battles in this game seem a little too easy at points (I played it on normal difficulty), but there are so many unique scenarios and boss fights in the game that it is impossible to get bored - a trait you see often in sequels. The original painted the basis very well, and this game expands on that formula with great variety.
The improvements in presentation are noteworthy as well. The game just pops more than the original. There is a definitive style with its cel-shaded art and new designs, and it makes the original look drab and dull in comparison. Not just the environments and characters, but the stills for the characters are very stylistic and fit the series well. The conversations too are the same off-the-top dialogue you expect from the series, and make it that much more enjoyable, even if they are presented via text.
All in all, if you don't like a good card-based battle system ala Culdcept or Baten Kaitos, you still won't likely find much enjoyment here. But for the rest of us, and for those who have yet to explore the genre, this is a great new way to get some use out of the shiny portable.
