You'll either like it or wont, you'll just have to play it.

Metal gear comes to the PSP in a way most people may not like, a turn based card battle game. Yes thats right, a turn based card battle game. But, thats not so bad.

Now, after going through this whole game, i was a little disappointed. The story didnt seem to have that Kojima flare to it that you get in the other metal gear games, nor did it have one part that you always get in the solid games that i very much enjoy, snake in a jail cell.

In the story, you will play as snake in the year 2016, a plane has been hijacked and the hijackers want something called pythagoras, which is being held at a research lab, the problem with that though is that a group of mercenaries is also at the lab looking for the same thing.

The gameplay was different to me, im not very into card based strategy games, but you basically have every little gadget from games before, but in card based form. Guns, health, bandages,......boxes, everything is here. Even those dirty magazines some players wish they were able to see. But on some types of weapons, the game isnt very clear when it came to how to use them, i had to look online to see how they worked. During the story you'll also run into another agent who you will also be able to control(as far as control goes) names Teliko

The graphics were incredible, some of the best on the system. Load times were very reasonable, which they should because the game doesnt even allow you the freedom of movement, you have to use your cards to be given that ability, so when all you have is a weapon that you need to kill this guy, but you a few squares of out of the kill zone, your screwed. However, my problems were that with some cut scenes, there are no animated characters, it turns into a sort of cartoon like comic, which actually makes it better with some characters, because i got a little tired of wondering which of these manly looking characters was the sexy spy girl Teliko.

The sound was good, each gun had a bit of a unique tone to it, the explosions all sounded nice and loud. Every little thing that you did made a noise, even those popular Kojima exclamation marks sounded and looked very nice. However with a lack of voiceovers, it was kinda hard to enjoy this one

In the end, if your a big fan of the metal gear series, or you enjoy card-based strategy games such as Yu-Gi-Oh, then you'll definatly wanna pick this up, if not, you better try getting your hands on a better Grand theft auto or Burnout Legends.
