A great new spin on a great series!

First of all so what: it's a card game, but it's still Metal Gear. Meaning your going to get a really great story and some cool new gameplay features. Well your right you are but the gameplay feature is basically the whole game. I wasn't too thrilled when I heard of this ambitious project but I would have to agree that this is great stepping stone for future reiterations in the series.

The gameplay consists of getting from point A to point B without being caught but that was more difficult than ever since you never have realtime control of "Snake" making a stealth mission more of a kill all the enemies on the map mission, which can get pretty hard at times. The control consists of choosing a card and either using the cards function like shoot, Ration, crawl, or you can use almost any of the cards to move and that's when the problems start...you want to move but only have 2 turns so you move to a wall (one turn) and then flatten against the wall (another turn) but all of a sudden a guard sees you and ALERT mode and you can't move...so you get shot but then you want to get away so one turn is to move a little then your last turn is to move away and then you wait again, so now it's finally your turn again so you want to kill the guard(s) you shoot, he ducks, and you shoot again, he ducks and this continues till some dies.
All the cards you use add COST to your player determining who goes next: the lower cost the higher your chances of moving first and so on.

Personally the gameplay needs to be fixed as it could get tedious moving and especially annoying when you need one card but have to shuffle your deck for minutes before you get the card you want. Though tedious this game has some fun to be had and once you get through it once you'll want to platy it again because of your new found experience.

The sound is were I was mostly disappointed in as there where NO voice overs so expect to be reading a lot of text.

The graphics are pretty good with some great effects, they seem to be PS2 first generation game graphics...a little bland but for a handheld pretty impressive.

Overall this is a great game ONCE you get used to it's unique style...definitely not for everyone, but great for the one's who can overcome some of it's hurdles.
