User Rating: 9.4 | Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater PS2
I admit, I went into this game a little hesitant. I wasn't the biggest fan of MGS2, but this game, is truly a true return to form. Gameplay: Solid: the controls take a little getting used to, but once you learn them, you'll be slitting throats and gunning bad guys down with ease. Also, Kojima has implemented the medical and food system into the game so well, that it will never get in the way. Killing random guards is all fine and dandy, but this game shines during boss battles. The amazing sniper battle with the end alone is worth the price of admission. The only slightly annoying problem is that Snake (SPOILER: Big Boss) tends to stick to things in the environment, taking over many things you touch. Graphics: Amazing. Hard to believe this is a PS2 game. The jungle environment is so convincing, that you'll actually feel like it's you against an army of mercenaries, using only your wits to survive. To people who say graphics don't determine if a game is good, I say this: I agree with you to a certain extent, but really, would MGS3 be nearly as good if the graphics weren't so unbelievable. Story: Don't want to ruin anything, but let's just say, forget any horror stories you remember about MGS2: this is a stunning return to form. OVERALL: This game has been polished to perfection, and is a worthy purchase for any PS2 owner.
