Starts out...dull, builds up momentum to make up for the boring beginning and ends up being an amazing experience!

User Rating: 8.9 | Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater PS2
Metal Gear Solid 3 is an amazing game and great for any kind of gamer. The graphics are outstanding. These graphics are more realistic and detailed rather than shiny, flashy, and candy coated like splinter cell 3 and ninja gaiden. The cutscenes are perfection and keep you interested no matter how long they are except for 1 or 2 cinemas toward the beginning. It's not an easy game even on the very easy difficulty level but its not hard at all. If you TRY the extreme difficulty....good luck with that. Personally i like the easy levels. They give you enough freedom to just run around and shoot stuff w/o being shot 3 times and dying. The sound is awsome; music, effects, everything is pretty much flawless. The voice acting sounds awesome most of the time.
The whole game i was so interested in the cutscenes that i was sort of disappointed when they were over and I actually had to play. But that feeling left once i got back into the game each time.
The characters are awesome. You have at least one favorite among the bad guys. Whether its The Boss, Ocelot (my favorite), or one of the cobras plus a few more. And you can't not like EVA....its impossible. And Snake is always great...even though...this isn't the same.....nevermind i don't want to give it away.
The weapons rock...i won't go into detail but thank God for the EZ gun and the RPG rocket launcher.
Catching and eating meals was cool...i didn't have to really do it that much. The camo stuff was also a nice addition to the series. I wouldn't be heartbroken if it wasn't in other mgs games in the future though.
The boss battles are fun. Period.
There is great replayability in this game. I've gone through it about 2 and a half times and I will for sure play it again all the way through. Plus, there are snake vs. monkey missions and those are pretty good if not great.
I do wish there was more extras like a demo theater like in MGS2:substance and in the Euro version of this game. I loved the cinemas in mgs 3 and it's sad i can't live through them as often as i would like...
The only particularly bad thing about the game is that the first 15% of the game or the "Virtuous mission" was pretty boring to play. But the rest of the game is perfect. That minor flaw and the fact there isn't more extras are the only reasons why this game isn't in the high nines or even 10 out of 10.
Pick this game up! It's been out for over a year and if you haven't bought this game yet, you are punishing yourself...and now that its 20 bucks almost everywhere you don't have a reason not to get it.
