I don't need to tell you why Metal Gear Solid 3 is amazing.
Oh yes.
Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence is an updated version of Snake Eater featuring many new additions.
1: A new camera mode.
2: Metal Gear Online (Now defunct)
3: Demo theaters and boss modes.
4: Metal Gears 1 and 2
Now I didn't pay much mind until I heard about the Metal Gear 1 and 2 part, I only tried the shoddy translation on the MSX2 once at a friends, I didn't get the stealth thing much, until Metal Gear Solid was released and I got my sweaty paws all over it.
After playing Metal Gear Solid I wanted dearly to give Metal Gear 2 a shot again, but my friend threw out his MSX2 for one of those Sega Saturn things.
But now my prayers have been answered! And the first 2 Metal Gears deserve their praise.
But wait a minute, your asking, this is Metal Gear SOLID 3, not "Nostalgia Time" well yes, let me get to that.
The new camera, is yes, a great new addition. Metal Gear Solid 3 still features it's breathtaking story, amazing boss battles, and fluid gameplay.
The ending is one of the most heartbreaking moments in gaming. The boss battle with Ocelot beats out the one in MGS1 and the one that SHOULD HAVE BEEN in Mgs2.
In old MGS games whenever you got an enemy in a chokehold, you could only choke them. Now you can slam them into the ground, choke them, slit their throats, and interrogate them, often times leading to good secrets. Metal Gear Solid 3 is truly the most tactical entry in the franchise.
So yeah, MGS3 is still my favorite PS2 stealth game, and the game I'd give any MGS newcomer.
Playing MG1 and Mg2 over again, is odd. Metal Gear doesn't feature a whole lot of the things you have in Metal Gear Solid.
But I would like to talk about Metal Gear 2 more.
Metal Gear 2 is my favorite Metal Gear game EVER. I will admit, I didn't like the old character designs that made Snake look like a 40 year old man, but thankfully, this version gives him the MGS1 look and makes everyone else look less horrible.
The battles are better this time around, because names like Shootgunner have been replaced with less terrible ones. And the battle with Gray Fox is here :D
And if you've played this game and Metal Gear Solid, you'll notice they use a lot of the same elements.
-Meeting the female character in a washroom.
-Battle with soldiers in the elevator.
-Fighting Gray Fox.
I still think this game is better though.
Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence is worth a pickup for any MG Diehard who never got to experience Metal Gear outside of the "EPIIC GAEM" Snake's Revenge and want MGS3 with a great camera.
