An all time classic more than worthy of its 10 stars.

User Rating: 10 | Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Platinum) PS3
Metal Gear Solid 1 revolutionized the stealth genre way back in 1997 on the PSOne. 12 years on and Metal Gear is still leading the way. The year is 2014 and Colonel Roy Campbell (Snake's old Colonel in MGS1) has called upon Solid Snake (now Old Snake due to rapid ageing) to stop Liquid's insurrection. With the help of his friend Otacon, Snake sets around the world to find Liquid. MGS4 gives you more freedom to choose how you want to tackle the game. You can choose to complete the game in the traditional MGS style, which is stealth, or you can choose to do it Gears Of Wars style which is shoot anything that moves. MGS4 contains the most amazing details i've ever seen in a game. Kojima has made everything as detailed as possible, whether it's the sound and feel of all the guns in the game, the look of the environment and surroundings, or the dialogue of enemies and friends. The gameplay is definitely the best i've ever experienced. You will experience some very intense, surprising and emotional moments during the game but i won't spoil those. The controls are very easy, but to perform some more challenging manoeuvres, you will need to refer to the in-game briefing menu which shows you how to perform all sorts of different actions. The soundtrack is amazing and really sets the mood, whether its a sad moment or a fast action paced fight, the soundtrack covers every moment in the game. Some of the best music occurs during the boss fights. Harry Gregson-Williams returns as well as some new composers: Nobuko Toda, Shuichi Kobori and Kazuma Jinnouchi. This is definitely a game worth buying if you own a PS3, an MGS fan or whether you are new to the series (But i recommend that you play the previous games before playing MGS4 so you can understand the plot more easily).
