This game is too good to exist
VISUALS 9/10
-These visuals are fantastic. This is definitely a game that can show off what the PS3 can do. Everything from textures to animations are sharp and fluid. The effects themselves are also pretty damn good. The only minor quirk in the visuals is that the frame rate at certain times struggles a bit. But this is a very minor issue here. So you won't find any ugly visuals in this game.
SOUND 9/10
-Fantastic sound. The voice acting is more than movie quality. The music is a little more absent than in previous MGS games, but it still sounds terrific. There are plenty of great soundtracks that will play. Even from the old games. So you'll find a great sounding game here.
STORY 20/10
-*contains minor spoilers* I can't believe this. So many damn games today just attempt to be a cheap summer blockbuster or just plain non memorable. They don't put enough heart into the characters or the plot. But MGS4 does all of that. This was one of the few games where I actually cared about the characters. It is also very cool to see references from the old games. Not to mention, there are many deep and emotional cut-scenes. Like that part where Snake is going through that microwave hallway burning up along with his friends being in a large struggle. Seeing our hero snake come to his final days is just heart braking and so deep. The story is so great, I wouldn't even care if the gameplay sucked.
GAMEPLAY 7/10
-You are probably wondering why I gave this game a 9.5 but I gave the gameplay a 7. Well as I said, the story was so great I didn't care if the gameplay sucked, and it didn't. The gameplay was good and solid. The controls worked fine for me and I was able to get used to that complicated stuff in the menu very quick. The problem I have with this game is the stealth. In the older metal gear solid games, you absolutely NEEDED to use stealth. If you were caught, then you were screwed. But here, it's actually easier to get out and shoot everyone, even on the hardest difficulty. That was a little disappointing for me. But still, this game is a lot of fun to play. Also, don't listen to those idiots saying "OMG, this game has 30 minutes gameplay and 20 hours of cutscenes!!" Seriously, they probably only played the first hour of it. It took me 20 hours of play time to beat this. But in order to get the full meat of this game and it's story, you will have to be at least familiar with the first three mgs games. If you are, then do yourself a favor and pick this up.
