Surely something that is worth having on a PSP

User Rating: 9 | Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP
MGS Peace Walker is another chapter added to the MGS franchise. With Big Boss returning as the main character of the game. The game is surprisingly good even though the series pretty much ended with MGS4. Made to be similar to the MGS4 control scheme but different enough to be called PSP controls. Since you can't move when you are laying down on the ground. Story is alright and has a reasonable amount of missions in the campaign but you can go back to it and replay the mission to improve your time and score. The cutscenes are sometimes interactive and it is also made in the same way as Portable Ops and the Digital Graphic Novel. It is also noted that the game doesn't pause when you are looking through your weapons and equipment inventory.

The system is design to be more like an army management system. Since it uses the MGS Portable Ops recruitment system but its been improved. You earn crew points based on how many people you have recruited and how you placed them by their specialty. The points also replenishes after each mission. Also send out your squad in outer ops to fight in war games and earn experience for your fellow comrades or lose them in the process also you can obtain vehicles and use them for your army which may give you an edge in outer ops.

Peace Walker doesn't have any difficulty setting so it is recommended to play with your friend since almost all missions in the game can be played in co op. A few Monster Hunter missions are also included in the game. Lastly you can also build your own Metal Gear using the components taken from an AI pod.

The Verdict:

Gameplay: Can be fun when played in multiplayer, but single player is still an option
Story: Good campaign but could have been longer.
Graphics: Ok for a PSP game.
Overall: 9/10
