With 3 masterpiece titles for $30, how can you not buy this set?!

User Rating: 10 | Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection PS2
Among my friends, I am THE Metal Gear Fan. I admit it, I am a big fan. I love this series. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to critique them for their respective problems.

We'll review them in game order.

MGS1 : 10/10
This game is a must own on it's own. Granted, graphics haven't stood up perfectly, and the Gamecube one has prettier ones with bonus stuff, but this is the one to own. The classic that made this series possible. With a dynamite story, twists, and all around fun, how can you not like this game? Newcomers may be dissapointed that this one doesn't have first person shooting capability like the two other games in the pack, but it doesn't need it. Everything works just fine without it.

MGS2 Substance : 9/10
Yes, you get Substance, with 200+ VR Missions and other fun stuff. Graphics are lovely, and controls get the bonus of FPshooting.
Anyway, the 9/10 is because of its story. It's kind of confusing. I don't hate it, it's just that it's not as....well, believable as the first's. Ok, shadow governments are, but sentience being born in the white house? Seriously? That's just f***ed up man. And unlike others, I don't complain about Raiden.
He's a good character in his own right.

MGS3 Subsistence : 10/10
Minus the second disc with Online mode, which has been discontinued, this is Subsistence in it's glory. I personally love 3. The graphics are better than 2's, and controls get a bonus too : A MOVEABLE CAMERA!!. A 3D camera is controlled with the right analog stick. That's a huge evolution my friend. Story is just flat out awesome. It's beautifully written and executed.

So, overall, this set is amazing, and you should buy it. Now!
