A deserving remake of the orignal Metal Gear Solid. Solid (no pun intended) game, truly.
I played the original on the PlayStation, and fell in love with it. I was therefore glad that I bought this game for the GameCube. The story is absolutely the same, although the graphics have been amazingly rehauled.
You start the game in an base as Solid Snake. From then on, it's up to you to see how you will play the game. If you play on easy, by all means, play on easy mode. This means that it doesn't matter really if you are seen by a guard or a camera - there are ways to correct it. But if you decide to play on the hardest difficulty, you're in for a treat. It means first time ANYONE sees you, you lose the game. This gives the game great replayability. And the option to acquire dog tags from select soldiers gives you a new goal if you've finished the game once or twice, as many bonuses await you if a certain amount of dog tags have been picked up.
The graphics are incredible, even by today's standards. They are greatly superior to PlayStation 2 Metal Gear Solid game's graphics, in my opinion, which is quite impressive in it's own right. The cutscenes are incredible, too.
And who doesn't want to see Otacon pee his pants??? I know I do.
All in all, this is a "solid" remake of the original PlayStation classic, and it's worth playing. One of the better GameCube games in my opinion.
