I've always asked myself if content and price should be reviewed in a game review because in my opinion I think a game review should be based solely on the game and nothing else, but I am opened to the fact that sometimes I feel it just has too be talked about. So before I start this review lets talk about the reason you are getting bent over for buying this game. First off it was going to start off at 40 bucks and then they dropped it to 30 bucks because they thought that was too much gee these guys should get an award for that assumption, you think? 40 bucks for an hour and a half game, like gimme a break! So the price now is 30 bucks but that still doesn't change the fact that this is only and hour and a half long! who thought this was ok!? and I know many of you who are huge fans of the series will try to argue and say but their is plenty of other stuff to do after you beat the campaign and your wrong the rest of that usually made the full game come up to four hours, that's completely justifiable! and that and when I buy a game I usually play its main campaign and then if the side quests aren't tedious I do them after because lets be honest most of the time they are and most side quests are filler anyways and so I wouldn't even count them for actual hours of fun towards the game. This is just a glorified demo and because this is made by Hideo Kojima he just gets a pass, no stop the bull$hi% and sell this game for at least twenty bucks and even that's steep for god sakes The Last Of Us Left Behind was expensive and that was fifteen bucks for close to the same amount of game, I just don't understand how they could get away with this. Now that I'm done ranting lets get to my actual review shall we?
Story:So basically in this story arc of MGS Ground Zeroes is a sequel to Peace Walker. Since this really is just basically a demo to the actual game their is not much to explain when it comes to story their is not a whole lot to say Paz and Chico have been captured and your mission is to go save them thats really the main plot of this game and because it's so short you obviously are going to want more but thats what it is take it or leave it.
Presentation: This is probably the best looking game ever made MGS GZ looks absolutely astounding and even though this game is way short at least its nice to look at throughout it. Theirs not really much of a soundtrack so that so that's kind of a bummer. I know also that most people want to know how Kiefer Sutherland does as Snake and if I'm honestly telling the truth I can't give you that answer yet their isn't a whole lot of dialogue given to Snake yet so it's too early to tell for me. The presentation is great.
Gameplay:When it comes to MGS's gameplay there is never a problem it always perfectly crafted and this installment is no exception either everything put in the game works well, the enemies AI is incredibly smart, and you must be quick witted to get out of tight situations, you can now go after enemies and make them talk to tell you where they are holding Chico or Paz and their our other different mechanics that are added into the game, to be honest the gameplay is short that their isn't a whole lot worth mentioning It's basically good old MGS with improved mechanics but nothing completely new because again it's only two hours long.
Overall their really isn't a whole lot I can explain with this game because lets face it it's not even close to the full product, I don't think this is a bad game, but for the price it's absolutely outrageous if you want this game wait for this game to drop down to 20 bucks and that even feels steep. I think the fact of the matter is that this is just not right, MGS is a great series our they seriously going to nickel and dime us for content like come on this is ridiculous! your better then this Kojima. If your a MGS fan I implore you don't get this game till its at its cheapest because they need to know that this is not ok.
