From the minute you begin your mission on Fox island you know you are in for one incredible game. You begin the game as Solid Snake, a agent sent in alone to stop FOX-HOUND, an elite team that has taken control over a nuclear weapons disposal facility. Things quickly evolve and your true mission becomes defined. Amazing story twists emerge near the amazing end of the game. The game also features a great host of characters, both friends and villains and impressive visuals. The game looks extraordinary and it really gives the feel of that you are alone and behind enemy lines. The Alaskan environments and the attention to detail make the game look and feel quite immersive and amazing. The sound quality is great and the musical tracks also give to this very unique environment. There are a few quirks to the gameplay although but it does not make the game suffer too much. The AI is horrendous with the guards but it was probably designed the way it was on purpose. Other problems with the camera angle in some sitations also hurt the gameplay. Although this game does completely define the stealth genre and the game is incredibly fun to play. The game, although it took me 15 hours to finish; is short and does not really supply a lot of replay value. The game is fairly linear so there isn't a lot of room for variation in sneaking tactics. There are some bonus items that require you the play through multiple times and the bosses in the game are so fun that they stand out quite impressively. A couple in particular will stand out as some of the best bosses you will ever play. Summed up Metal Gear Solid is a supreme achievement. The villains of FOX-HOUND are very cool characters. The story stands out here the most with its great twists snd although the gameplay does suffer in a couple regions, the experience is still quite filling and enjoyable. The sound is ambient and the mood/atmosphere is dark and truly sets the scene for one the best games action games.
