Another good 2-D game.
The gameplay:
The gameplay is the same as Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3. I've never played this game on the NES, but I played it on the PlayStation2. The gameplay was completly different for the NES. Although it is better for the PS2 because then you don't have to find an NES.
The graphics:
The graphics are just like any other arcade game like Metal Slug. This game has good graphics, but Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake has much better graphics. These graphics would proably be better if they remade this game.
The sound:
The sound doesn't change one bit. It's just the shooting, the backround music, the alert and evasion system, when someone is talking, when the radio rings, and when you die. But it does have good music if you think about it.
The controls:
The controls are the same if you were playing them on the PS2 (which I did). Except that you can't go into first person view. Now if you were playing them on the NES you would probably have to move with a Joy Stick. You also have to press A and B. So it must of been harder back then. Now since they put it on the PS2 (Metal Gear SOlid 3 Subsistence Disc 2) the controls are a little eaiser. The one thing that hard is the shooting. You can go into First Person mode and shoot, you have to make sure you aim just right. There is also no Lock On so it's even tougher. I had a lot of trouble with it.
The storyline:
After Big Boss (Naked Snake from MGS3) got cloned years later Snake got sent to do his first mission. This mission takes place in Outer Heaven. Now since the game is completly different than the other Metal Gears it can be Hard. Snake must face a whole lot of bosses and destroy the one weapon that can destroy the world Metal Gear. In this game the Metal Gear is called Metal Gear D. Once Snake finds out who's behind all of this it's going to be quite a shock.
This game can be Hard, Challenging, and Fun at the same time. If you are a big Metal Gear fan or if you just like the games go and buy (or find) this game. It's worth it.
