REVIEW!
This is my first review on here, so let me know what ya'll think. This was my first play through of this game to.
Metal Gear, Solid Snake, and a couple other well known characters to the series are introduced in this game. It's my first time playing any version of the original metal gear, and it was a fun experience. Given that it was made in 1987 roughly for the MSX originally, playing it on the PS2 is a great idea. Gives people the chance to play something that might be hard to find. The game itself, was alot better then I thought it would be. And alot less frustrating then most old classics I've played.
Being the first title that I know of from Hideo Kojima, for the most part it was a well done game. Few things could of been better, like the radio conversations. For the most part they were quite, limited. Other then that the gameplay is quite smooth, and fun to pick up on. Felt alot like the first time I played metal gear solid, but with 8 bit graphics. Plus the great joy of the nut punching. The core gameplay from this title has translated through out the other Metal Gear games, such as stealth, and finding weapons, gear, and ammo on site. The menus brought up by the shoulder buttons are familure, but not as stream lined as in the newer games.
The story itself is decent. Dosn't have the complete epicness of Metal Gear Solid and on, and was pretty basic and simple. But at the same time it was still intrigueing, and interesting enough to keep going. The boss characters in the game all have the interesting and quirky names we've come to expect from Metal Gear. Little goofier then newer titles. Each boss has their own strategy and unique way to defeat them, wich is more depth then expected.
All in all it's a fun game and if your a fan of the series, defiently worth a playthrough. Add's some things to the story and has characters that haven't been carried over through the series. I'll give it a 7 out of 10.
Barf Ball out.
