In 2007 the gaming world was flipped upside down with the release of a little game called Crysis. As we all know, this changed the gaming landscape forever... for better or worse, it was the most graphically challeging, PC crippling game ever created, that still to this day is used as litmus test when benchmarking any type of performance. I love Crysis and it inspired me to over years finally build a dream PC that could play it fully maxed out.

I was arragant about my PC - it slaughters every game I throw at it, and I'd be lying if I said I bought this game for any other reason then to see if it was truly the next Crysis, in terms of graphical greatness. For perspective: the core of my rig is comprised of a Phenom II 965 @ 3.8 oc, 4GB DDR3, X-Fi Titanium pci-e, and a HIS 5870. I can run this game at 1920x1080 on Very High settings, with DirectX 11 enabled and AF16 and have it be smooth. But the second I flip AA or advanced DX11 features... BOOM - knee capped. Now that's what I'm talking about - this game is unbelievably gorgeous and I can't imagine what it looks like for the few that can fully max it, including PhsyX.

Ok, moving on. This game markets itself as "Atmospheric" and I don't think I knew the true sense of atmosphere in a game until I first played this last night. It is captivating, unbelieveably immersive and exceptionally intriguing with an entertainment value off the charts. I am so looking forward to finishing this game. It is greatness, and it truly lives up to the hype. Mix STALKER with Half Life 2, maybe throw in a little Fallout 3 and here you go. This is not a game for the feint of heart... I cannot believe how truly scary this game is. More so than any game in recent memory.

So... if your rig can run it, then buy this game. I have a feeling that a future optimization patch along with enhanced drivers will improve performance and also - you really don't need all the bells and whistles unless you're a crazy person like me ;) - the game still looks absolutely stunning at lower resolutions and without DX11, high settings, etc.

Sorry for not focusing as much on actual game content but I truly believe this will now be the game that reviewers use to benchmark high end PC's for a long time coming... considering that for over 3 years, nothing has touched Crysis. Introducing Metro 2033, color me impressed. ENJOY this one folks!!!
