A true hidden gem.
However this isn't the case, Metro 2033 is a great game from a small Russian developer; the story takes place in the post apocalyptic Moscow metro system where mankind is fighting for survival against not only themselves and many forms of mutant creatures but a new threat known only as the old ones.
The mood portrayed throughout the game is tense and dark, you will find yourself always checking to make sure your light has enough charge to stay one for fear of what may find you in the metro tunnels should it fail, I also loved the gas mask mechanic. While on the surface or in certain toxic gas filled areas underground you must use a gas mask to survive, you also have to make sure you have a surplus supply of spare filters, if you don't you die, this means you have to think carefully on what to spend your bullets on, meds, ammo, or filters.....genius.
Oh and did say bullets not money, in this game military grade rounds are used as currency, they are superior to the dirty bullets you will find yourself using on most occasions as ammo.
The graphics in this game are good and can't be complained about, the story is excellent as well however I did find the ending to be a bit of a letdown. Gun play is a bit clunky but won't detract from the game as the sounds these weapons make is epic, making slaughtering all on comers a joy.
Overall this game is so underrated and it's a shame, none of my friends had heard of it or even though of buying it until I told them how good it was, and you know what....they loved it as much as I did.
