Metroid Fusion is the last Metroid in chronology as of Nov 2010. This game is probably one of the best in the series. It's relatively short length and linear game play may disappoint some fans. It also throws in some story which is unusual for a Metroid (aside from Other M). The big thing about this game, though, is that the game play is solid and fast-paced, the graphics and sound are well polished, and it's just plain fun to play over and over again.
This game takes the overall mechanic that worked so well to make Super Metroid a game that shows up near the top of most "Best Games of All Time" lists and leaves it largely untouched, upgrading the graphics and sound and offering new weapons / upgrades and a large variety of enemies and interesting, fresh boss battles. The level design is pretty well done and enjoyable. Overall this is a must play for any Metroid fan.
