-First person control is awkward

Metroid takes a new path with Other M, far different from Metroid Prime the preceding series. The game focuses on a third person point of view fighting which is accented by a first person touch. Personally, I feel that the first person controls were touchy and slightly awkward. For instance, when switching to first person you don't really know where you will be looking. This can be hard at pivotal points in the game. The game does however offer a dodge system and sometimes will slow down when you switch to first person mode, which DOES HELP. Also in first person, when shooting an enemy you sometimes will lock on to it making missile conservation difficult at times and forces you to use the b button to look around and the 2 button to shoot, this feels a bit awkward.

Unlike every other metroid game, you do not find energy refills/ missile refills in the game. You do however have a recharge system that allows to to hold a while holding the wii remote upwards. During recharging you must stay completely still and be in critical energy zone. I have mixed feelings on this. It can help very much in boss fights but during regular enemy fights is a disadvantage.

Other M's boss fights are EPIC to say the least. At times they remind me of god of wars boss scenes which is a good thing. The bosses are new, and have different strategies in which you must beat them. Other M's difficulty is perfect to me because even though most of the fighting is easy, there are certain scenarios in which you die instantly. For example I died multiple times when being chased by this lava monster. The scenes pop up unannounced and will keep even the most proficient gamer on their toes. Unfortunately, parts of the game look cartoon-like and can be goofy. In my opinion Metroid Prime 3 had elite graphics when compared to Other M.

One thing that I thought was worth mentioning is that there is no longer any type of scanning, which i feel is a great improvement. I don't need to know what its name is or where its from, i just want to kill it and take the upgrade. Also they added a help system in the first person point of view that tells you what you're looking for. This tends to be over looked when you are stuck in first person view and you must find the right thing to look at. These are annoying and a waste of time.

BOTTOM LINE: People disliked this game because it was so much different than the Prime series, it should be looked at more as a Metroid fusion game. If you are thinking of buying this game I'd say buy it, especially since you can find it a lot cheaper now.
