A successor to metroid prime is here, and it's a good one.

User Rating: 9.4 | Metroid Prime 2: Echoes GC
Metroid Prime 2 echoes, the follow up to one of the greatest games of all time, Metroid prime. Now if you’ve played the first metroid prime, you’re going to find that there are many similarities between the 2 games. Retro didn’t take any big risks with this game, instead they played it safe, and in some cases, a bit too safe. Still, the outcome is a game that successes metroid prime and lives up to become just as enjoyable as the first one. Of course, like all other metroid games, metroid echoes is very, VERY atmospheric. You’ll notice so many small effects that you’ll grow to appreciate though-out the course of the game. The graphics are amazing. Everything looks like it was designed uniquely to a top-notch outcome. There are more lighting effects in the game and an increased poly count to spice things up. Furthermore, the character models look generally better than in prime 1. The gameplay still remains basically the same. If you’ve played the first metroid prime you won’t have any problem hopping right into the suit and blowing everything up. Of course there are new upgrades for you to find, but the old classics like the missiles and power beam are back again. Oh and by the way… this game, is HARDER. The biggest improvement is the game’s sound. The enemies all have their own unique effects, and the music is much better than the original. But the problem with the game is the fact that retro took a lot of material from the first one and brought it back. For example, you’ll notice that there are not enough new upgrades in the game to make gameplay fresher for old fans. And near the end of the game, you are given a final mission which is ridiculously similar, if not a perfect clone, of one of the missions of metroid prime. Similarities are noticeable, but it’s still a great game. Overall, if you have a gamecube, get metroid echoes, if not, then get a gamecube, get metroid prime, then get metroid echoes.
