Metroid Prime 2 is a truly worthy sequel to the first Metroid Prime.

I bought this soon after it was released because I loved the first Metroid Prime so much. This game met my expectations. The gameplay is solid, just like the first MP. The controls are perfect for single player, but unfortunately do not translate well in multiplayer. The graphics are stunning for the little cube. They are up to par with the best of the currrent gen (not really anymore) consoles and can be compared to Halo 2. Unfortunately I have not been able to experince it in all of its glory in progressive scan mode, I do have the older version of the Gamecube but the unavailabilty of the cord outside of the internet has made it impractrical to order. The sound suits this game well. It is an outstanding value at $20. It's biggest downfall is the multiplayer. The lock on system does not work in multiplayer, fortunately people can escape the lock on by going into morphball mode or dashing. The ammo system works fairly well in multiplayer but in single player it is just time consuming. Personally there are only two multiplayer maps that are decent, the rest are either too small or just boring. One of the worst aspects of multiplayer is the inclusion of the dark visor. This renders the invisibilty item useless and makes lying in wait for a trap nearly impossible to pull off. Altogether this is an astounding game that deserves to be played. Be sure to pick up another one of Retro Studios' masterpieces!
