The game features one of Nintendo's most cliche plot ideas of a Light an Dark world, and makes it work.

"O come on, its just another boring Nintendo game with 2 parallel worlds. Its so repetitive, make it stop!" Well thats what most people said when they played this game. We've seen the first addition of a light & dark world originating with the Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. It was an amazing addition that would go on to future Zelda games such as the Ocarina of Time, the Oracles, a liitle bit of Twilight Princess and many more. It was good at first, but how can you keep using the same idea over again and again........It was Metroids turn. The weird thing is the idea works even in a first-person shooter or Sci-Fi adventure-whatever you want to call it. Now how did it work? Let me explain.

Backround of game: Metroid Prime 2 is the sequel of the first Metroid Prime and takes place shortly after Metroid Prime Hunters. You play as Samus Aran, a bounty hunter raised by the Chozo (some bird like alien) Intro: One day you recieve a distress signal from the "Galactic Federation" and investigate the dissapearence of marines on the planet Aether. You get to either, your ship crashes, you find the marines dead and figure out your in the middle of a war between to races, the Ing and the Luminoth. The Ing are pretty much what monsters would look like if you went to hell, and the Luminoth are giant mosquitoes. Anyways the Ing are absolutely pwning the Luminoth and stealing their planetary energy. Ya I know your like WTF is going on? So I will try to explain to the best of my ability. When an asteroid hit Aether it devided the planet into 2 worlds, one dark and one light. Each world has their own planetary energy and if one world were to lose all its planetary energy that world would ceise to exist. So basicly the Ing and the Luminoth are fighting for each others energy and your caught in the middle and "volluntere" to help the last Luminoth living "U-Mos" to regain the lost planetary energy thus beginning your adventure.

Gameplay: The gameplay is simply amazing! Here's a good way to explain it, its like Halo, with a Mario type freshness to it. You get crazy weapons like the Light Beam and Dark Beam and you just absolutely destroy everything in your path using your weapons since U-Mos is the only living thing that doesn't want to kill you. The jumping is great in this game, especially since jumping usually doesn't work well in FPS. You get to be Tarzan and grapple on to various objects with your grapple beam. You get some sense of Nostalgia for long time Metroid fans with the return of the Screw Attack. The biggest change to this game from the predeseseur is the Dark world. The atmosphere is Toxic so don't expect to stay alive much long if you aren't in a "safe zone". These zones are bassically barriers of light that protect you from the harmfull atmosphere and slowly heal you. You will have to manuver around obstacles in the Dark World and break your back finding these safe zones or else your dead. You get cool visors that can locate sound echoes and interdimensional object not normally seen to the naked eye and your going to do a lot of reading and scanning. I actually sometimes just like to turn on Echoes and sometimes just read about the various creatures I'v scanned because you get so into the Sci-Fi feel. Its simply amazing

Graphics: The graphics are amazing. It made the Gamecube look like an X-BOX and their just perfect. You can ask 10 people which system the graphics would be from and I guarantee 7 or more would say those are PS2 or X-BOX graphics.

Sound: The sound is...well theres not that much sound. When it comes to speech theres not that much sound well because you have no one to talk too other than U-Mos but it makes up for it with cool sound-effects. You get to hear your enemies alien-like shriek and there is a lot of classic metroid tunes in the game for some sense of Nostalgia. Its pretty good but not perfect.

Value: Man, there is so much to do in this game and the story alone is basically what your going to be doing the whole game but with all the stuff to do in between the story the value is just great. Some might argue the game gets boring after a while and I might agree with some points but just completing the game occupies a lot of your time.

Multiplayer: Yes the newest installment to the Metroid series. Its baddd get Metroid Prime Hunters if you want a good Metroid multiplayer. Echoes multiplayer is stale and boring.

This game is a solid sequel. Any Metroid fan should own this game and if your looking for another reason to dust off and take out your gamecube this game should really revive it.
