This is it! Nearly everything about this game is as close to perfection as it gets. I just wish there was more to do!

This may be a bit late for a review but I just have to get this off my chest. This game is as close to perfection as any game is ever likely to get by its time's standards. As a long time fan of the Metroid series and games of its kind I was, as many others, very skeptic to bringing it into a 3D world. I have to say that it didn't take longer than 10 minutes (what it took to master the controls) to blow any doubt from my mind. It was the right thing to do. I will always claim that 2D still has a lot of untapped possibilities, but the world created in Metroid Prime feels so much alive that it could probably never be equalled in 2D. Every aspect of the graphics, including the visual style, is executed with pinpoint precision. On a console from today maybe higher resolution would be desired, but that really is as far as I can take any form of critique of the game.

It is somewhat difficult to not feel as a "fanboy" when describing this game. From the second I landed on Tallon (the planet where the game takes place) I was sold. I was Samus. Each new area I reached was breathtaking and just called out - wanting to be explored. Said and done, every nook and cranny of the game was explored within a day or two. Right after that I just rebooted my GameCube and played through it one more time, this time on Hard mode. This might make it sound as if it's an easy game. That is certainly not the case. The game is challenging and rewarding to play.

If you own a GameCube, you owe it to yourself to play this game. If you don't own a GameCube, you had better hope that you know somebody who does, because if you miss out on this game, then you've missed out on what is probably the best game of this entire generation of video games!
