A wonderful designed game and great music, however it has its problems.

Metroid Prime is a wonderful designed game with great music and storyline. The graphics are amazing and Samus is really cool. That being said there are some negatives about this game:

When you want to save, you sometimes have to back track for what seems like hours to a save point. They either should have put more save spots or give you the option to save at anytime during the game. I understand Metroid is all about exploration, but when you get a new item and you wish to save you have to sometimes backtrack and fight all the enemies you beat over again just hoping to make it back to the save point alive.

One of the great things about Metroid is that once you meet a new enemy he's really hard. But when you get a new weapon that hard enemy becomes incredibly easy. Metroid Prime lacks this. Some new weapons won't make hard enemies any easier, and this is early in the game.

The combat is a little off. Being in a first person shooter perspective, it brings a few issues. Targeting on your enemies can be difficult especially when there are more than 3 enemies in the room. Jumping isn't an issue usually, but at some points it's hard to predict where Samus will land.

And the main negative is the design of Tallon IV. Hear me out, while it looks great, you have to do some serious backtraking later on in the game in places you've already explored a million times. And once you get past a part you've been working on for a while, you get to the next part that requires you to backtrack again in order to proceed. All the backtracking may discourage some people.

If you go 1 week without playing and you start playing again, it's easy to forget what you have to do and where you are.

Overall, Metroid Prime is an example of everything that's good about the Gamecume system. A few issues here, but if you can handle the tedious backtracking and aggravating saving then go for it!
