Metroid Prime is the best game of the generation.

Yeah, you heard me. Its the best game of the generation. MP is an incredible accomplishment in almost every way, and it takes the Gamecube doubles its notoriety. If you thought xbox was graphically superior to Gamecube, you may want to reconsider. While most games are better on xbox, Metroid Prime is as good as any xbox game, graphically speaking, if not better. As always, the game is incredibly addicting, even more so than the 2D side scrollers that invented MP's heroin, Samus Aran. As always, Samus is dropped onto a planet to complete a relatively simple mission and eventually turns into an epic adventure, starting with recollecting your items, of course. Even better, youre in for about 20 hours of incredibly enjoyable gameplay. Metroid Prime takes everything that makes it great, action, puzzle solving, and exploring, and mixes them in perfect proportions to creat a nearly perfect game. Many of the puzzles are satisfyingly difficult, and boss fights have the excellent "zeldaish" combo of solving how do defeat your enemy, and then actually doing it. While many people won't notice, the story is actually rather deep and interesting. If you have the patience to scan most of the information and actually read it (the hard part) you find the story MUCH deeper than when you scan the bare minimum. Regardless of whether you do it or not, you will still enjoy the game whether you know whats going on or not. On a side note, gaining new items, especially weapons, is inexplicably satisfying. Every time I beat a large group of enemies or a boss, I was quite disappointed when I didnt receive a beam powerup. As for sound, is, whadd ya know, equally good. Weapon sounds are good, enemy noises are top notch, and the soundtrack is the best part. The music fits the part of the game youre in rather well, and sets the tone for each sector and boss fight. You really dont get much of insentive to play through it again besides a hard mode, bit its not completely devoid of replay value due to the fact that its just so good. Overall, MP is must have game for gamecube owners and is an excellent reason to purchase a Gamecube.
