Boy, did Metroid start as a great series or what? Metroid, first introduced in 1986, is one of the greatest Nintendo shooters of all time! As a child I grew up with Nintendo so Metroid was one of the games I would play. This game for NES is very hard indeed. If you start and just walk to the right (The Common Decision) then your screwed completely. Not getting the Maru Mari is extremely fatal in your quest. The rooms are huge and full of lurking enemies around the corner. Who would've guessed it took 5 missiles, even 10, to open a red door. Also, getting past any Metroid was almost impossible at first. This game had me going "Wait a second, I've been here already!" The halls are extremely confusing at first. But then it gets easier, Trust me. Probably the only bad thing in Metroid NES was its Password Recording System. You enter a Password and continue playing at the point you left off at. That is when password generators came to be. Also, while on the subject, Cheats! One great cheat *SPOILER* was the NARPAS SWORD0 000000 000000 Password. It started you off at the beginning of the game...But with all powerups and able to regain them. You also had the ice beam! If You would like to start as Suitless Samus then the code for you is: 000000 000020 000000 000020. It's a game that will activate your hidden passion for old 8-bit games! This is a must have Virtual Console game. (Or actual Cartridge if available.) I highly suggest you buy this game.
