Pretty short and basic, but fairly solid third person shooter.

User Rating: 7 | Miami Vice: The Game PSP
Miami Vice: The Game is an action game based on the recent Miami Vice movie, not the 80's TV show. Because of that, the characters are based off of Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, instead of Don Johnson and (whoever played Tubbs in the TV show). That was kind of a dissappointment for me since I'm a much bigger fan of the TV show than the movie, but it's not a big deal overall.

Miami Vice: The Game is pretty impressive graphically. The Miami environments look great. In the game, you'll visit a nightclub, a tweaker fililed trailer park, the waterfront, and others. The sounds aren't bad either. The voice acting is pretty good for Crockett & Tubbs, although you won't think you're hearing Farrell or Foxx. The lines coming from the enemies get a little redundant, and the profanity is peppered in a little too liberally.

Most missions involve little more than infiltrating an area, eliminating all of the enemies, and recovering tons of drugs. The missions are very linear, and mostly just involve a lot of shooting. The enemy AI is nothing spectacular, and they are most often easy to kill, to the point where you feel like Rambo hacking through countless lackeys. Fortunately, the developers did add a few things to spice up the game. There is the obligatory boat chase, and at the end of each mission you are given reputation points, which will help you do certain things in the between mission sequences, such as sell drugs or contact drug barons who may only meet with you if you have a certain reputation.

Miami Vice: The Game is relative short. Once you get through the missions, there's not much left to make you want to keep playing this game. And that's fine, but the missions themselves don't last terribly long. I played this game for 5-10 hours before trading it in. Because of that, I recommend renting this game over buying it, unless you find it cheap in a bargain bin, or you're a Miami Vice fan and plan on holding on to the game as memorabilia.
