It's Boring Alone, But Fun With Friends

User Rating: 7 | Micro Machines V4 PS2
This is one of those games that are more fun to play when you have friends to play it with, primarily because of all the crazy power-ups such as hammers, sonic booms, plasma guns (hold X to charge up and cause maximum damage), pea shooters, etc. However, playing this game alone is rather boring and when you mix in the annoying camera, bland presentation, and generic vehicles, you got a boring, shallow, budget-priced racer. The camera is really a nuisance during the battle modes, where you have to outrun your opponent by driving a good distance. While either one of the players is gaining a lead, the camera gradually zooms out until the opponent(s) behind you are off-screen, but when the camera is zoomed out so far, you can barely tell where the track is and where you need to go so naturally, you're going to fall off the track or get stuck on a wall and lose the round. plus the vehicles (750 to collect and trade) are just generic-looking vehicles such as a Lowrider Bus, for example and they handle rather loosely, rather than having sharp, responsive steering (meaning they slide around every turn). The tracks are ceverly designed and you can evencreate your on track and put your own powerups there(i.e: running accross books at a library and using spatulas as bridges at the Fast Food Restaraunt. Plus, there's on-track hazards that will cause you to lose health such as chikens pecking at you, runnig across a hot stove, etc. Overall, this is a game that's more fun to play with friends as it's too boring and shallow to play alone.
