Midnight Club 3 is very different from most racing games. The main difference is that a majority of the racing takes place in the open world with no barriers just checkpoints. This is very difficult to master and one wrong turn could put you in a dark alleyway while the leaders speed away. This can make the long career mode feel at times impossible to complete. Career mode does feature 3 real cities: Atlanta, San Diego and Detroit. Each city is huge and features intelligent traffic that change lanes along with changing traffic lights. This doesn't sound very significant but none of the NFS games have this. Car customization is very cool and very in depth. You can choose license plate by state and write whatever you want on them. Other features include NOS color engine blocks that stick out of the hood of muscle cars and wheelie bars along with the usual body kits and vinyls and rims. There are a great selection of cars including muscle cars, exotics, choppers, trucks, tuners and more. In career mode there are different races for each of these categories. This does get a bit annoying because you have to go back and forth to the garage to get the right cars for a race. Midnight Club is fun yet difficult racing game that requires the player to have a great amount of patience and skill. Once you get good at it, it is one of the most fun racing games.
