Clumsy at first, but better when you get the controls down

First things first, this game is definitely not for everyone. Mirror's Edge is only for fans of trial and error. It takes a while to get used to the controls and be able to fully utilize Faith's running abilities, and even then you will still make a lot of mistakes. since Mirror's Edge is a first person platformer, it can sometimes feel awkward hanging from ledges and jumping large gaps. But with perseverance comes reward and you will soon find yourself able to gauge distances without thinking about it. Being able to find the best paths and chain together jumps smoothly is very rewarding.
The story is well made and touching, but I didn't think about it while I was playing. The training at the beginning of the story does a good job showing all the moves Faith can pull off while running. However, I felt that the combat was too tough. There were a few parts where you have to take out multiple enemies who are far stronger than you. Firing a gun also feels awkward because the look sensitivity is very high. You can lower the sensitivity, but then running would be hard because you need to be able to turn.
The timed trials and speed runs are where Mirror's Edge really shines. Keeping momentum while performing various moves feels very rewarding when done right. Finding new routes to the next checkpoint is rewarding and racing a faster person's ghost is a good fun way to improve times.
If you are the kind of person who likes story driven games or competitive multiplayer, I wouldn't recommend this game. However, if you are always looking for new and innovative challenges then Mirror's Edge is just what you are looking for.
