Although its up´s and down´s, Mirrors Edge is still a game worth playing.

User Rating: 8 | Mirror's Edge PS3
Mirrors Edge is different to say the least, and normally i like different , so the moment i got this game and popped it into my ps3 i felt quite excited, but it would seem that the excitement wouldn't last, for the whole thing. Despite that i still think it was an enjoyable game, although far from perfect.

Graphics: From the videos and images of the games its evident that the producers choose an unusual pallet of colors, white buildings, blue streets, and especially red paths, mark your journey trough this game constantly, and its actually quite nice, fitting the game very well, since this is passed in a kind of almost perfect future, and although dont quite seem real, they give an identity to the game.

Gameplay: Mirrors Edge is quite a unique playing game, its kind of a mix between shooter and a platform and it makes for quite the mix. In most of the game you will be running, since running is what this game is all about. Normally missions consist of you going from point a to b running, jumping over fences, sliding under air ducts and all that parkour stuff, but dont expect it to be easy, a lot of times cops will appear and come after you, wielding powerful guns with which they could easily swat you, but they wont, and thats because they are such screw ups, while they can easily corner you and subdue you, they're is aim is so bad that as long as you're about 15 feet away they wont hit you, no matter what weapon they use, i´m not saying thats a bad thing though because normally cops just enter the picture to incorporate that fail option, but it could be more challenging. Now dont go thinking that you cant just kick their butts and take their weapons, because you can, but the firing mechanics weren't made to be abused, yes theyre there but firing is not exactly what this game is all about, and you'll have more fun just stringing up moves to take down your enemies then exactly shooting. Now when i mentioned ups and downs thats because theres a very evident line between platforming sections and running sections and while the running sections can be a thrill with you running from the cops and running trough the most unbelievable places, being strangely guided by small hints in the landscape, platforming sections slow down the pace so much that you might consider just putting the controller down and go take a break, and adding to the disappointment is the fact that if you die, it will mostly be in these sections, because of small mistakes you made that resulted in you missing a pipe or an edge and just falling down to the waiting pavement, its annoying. Still, just to experience the thrilling sections i still would say its worth it. Now dont think that youll be left to find you're own path to the target location, most of the times youll be guided trough a straight line, almost like prince of persia, and to make sure you dont get lost, all the paths you must take are marked with a vibrant red color, but while in some sections this is quite restrictive in other areas its hardly notable, and youll be running trough youre enemies as if you were the one laying out the path.

Story: Quite good in fact, the game is passed in a near future, as i already said, and in this near future people exchanged freedom for safety, resulting in constant watch and control of everything by the government. In spite of the measures created to prevent acts against the rules, an organization was born, and people called "runners" started delivering suspicious messages in between powerful figures that might put in risk this world, you are a runner called "Faith", and one day after a job you discover that your sister was incriminated of something and leaving everything behind you start looking for the one responsible, leading you to find a great conspiracy that aims to end the runners.

In the end i think that mirrors edge is a game that everyone should try, shooter fans or not, because the thrilling moments of this game are so good that youll forget the weak points of it, and while there is not enough content here to be worth a buy its still very well worth a rent or a lend.
