It's a fun filled Anime Adventure loaded with great gameplay, awesome boss battles, and tons of outstanding explosions.
Gameplay: The gameplay in this game is what really makes Mischief Makers great. As Marina, you play through 5 worlds, 12 stages each to rescue Professor Theo from the clutches of the Evil Empire. In this very fun 2-D Side scroller/Platformer you'll be challenged to some puzzles/missions, (such as looking for 13 ghosts and catching them in a pot), Riding levels (such as a Giant Rocket without crashing and blowing yourself up into oblivion), Random things ( such as playing Dodgeball against a kitty cat and partcipating in some Olympic games at some Great Festival), Helping out the ghost faced people called the Clancers ( like by finding some parent's lost kids), and of course knocking out enemies into submission by grabbing, throwing, slamming, and blowing them up with bombs/detattched rocket launchers from robots. Speaking of blowing things up, it seems explosions are pretty big in this game especially if your a robot or a boss. And man do I love explosions. Which now brings to the next point, the boss battles. Some bosses consists of a Giant Worm, A Giant Toad, and more. Other bosses have at least 2 forms. There first form only being the boss with or without a weapon, which are pretty simple to beat. There second form is a bit more challenging, because now they either have a giant vehicle/weapon/robot. The coolest thing about beating the bosses is the giant explosion after beating them. You really get a great feeling of accomplishment. What better way to finish off a boss battle.
Graphics: The graphics in Mischief Makers looks like an old school 16 bit 2-D side scroller. They're bright and colorful which is really 2-D-espue. They are in a word, awesome. Though most of the characters/people/enemies in the game consist of a people called Clancers which are a ghost faced looking people and the weird thing is the platforms you jump on and whatnot look exactly like the Clancer, so almost everything has a ghost face like the Clancers. It's kind of weird and boresome at the same time looking at the same ghost face. The only other characters that are different looking are Marina, Professor Theo, and the bosses and most of which look great. The explosions are pretty big and bright that light up the whole screen and make for some really great eye candy.
Sound: The music in Mischief Makers is mostly cheery and upbeat which I don't really care for. Only until you fight a boss it gets really serious and dramatic which is a nice change of pace from the cheery upbeat stuff. As for the sound, the sound of throwing an enemy and it saying ow is pretty funny. The explosions in the game sound really authentic especially in surround sound. Some characters in the game only have corny one liners, some of which are funny. But, the weird thing is most of the dialogue is in Scrolling Text. Pretty odd, eh?
Replay Value: This would probably be a game you probably want to beat a couple times and come back to in like 2-3 months. The thing that would most likely bring you back is the really fun boss battles.
