User Rating: 8.5 | MLB 09: The Show PS3
I was hooked on MLB The show since it's 2007 edition. and I have to say that, while the graphics, sound, and control have definetly improved. There are still some things (specifically in RTTS) that need some improvement.

First: Hitting is entirely based on timing? hmm....Im not so sure sometimes, I have made some fairly late swings on fastballs on the outside black and they were pulled once contact was made. Now, im not a physics expert, but that sounds pretty impossible to me. I am also glad that they finnaly fixed the bug in RTTS where the computer would "forget" which fielder control setting it was on....that dorve me absolutely bonkers in older editions (for the record, it still happens in the PSP version of 09)

Second: Errors are a lot more common when you are a young player, my first season as a RTTS shortstop, I finished the season with 17 errors! I was expecting to be released after that season becuase there was no Class A affiliate, but I guess the good people at Sony recognized my potential.....as a repreat buyer I imagine ;)

lastly: Sometimes that goals are set a little high for what can realistically be done. Im not too concerned as to what goals are set for me, but dont give me two weeks to jump up 3-5 points in any given category, especially when you are going to bend the laws of physics on me at random.

All in all: I would say that the game is an excellent buy, and given a fair amount of commitment, will provide hours of fun for its players. Also, if you only moderately understand the game of baseball, then this is a good one, becuase after a season play, you will feel like you belong alongside Peter Gammons.
