MLB 09 further improves on the MLB franchise, but still feels similar to previous titles.

User Rating: 9 | MLB 09: The Show PS3
I probably should have created this review months ago when I first bought this game, but due to Resident Evil 5 release and finding less free time, I had to hold this back until now. This MLB game is greater than ever and offers the same mechanics and modes as all previous MLB games, so if you liked MLB 06-MLB 08, this will most likely be a must buy for fans.

Gameplay 9/10- Same great gameplay that revolutionized the baseball series three years ago, not much has changed. Batting is still the same, pitching still uses the meater system, and fielding also remains unchanged with ability to rob home runs and dive for the ball. Baserunning is really all that has been changed, which seems more realistic and controllable now. Stealing is slightly harder and is a lot more realistic and less generic. The same modes are offered as all the other MLBs, road to the show, season, franchise, and quick games. Online is also similar, but I haven't played it yet. I hear it is more organizable and simpler menus. Overall, if you liked how previous MLB games played, you will not be upset here. Unlockables are fun extras and the golden/silver era teams are available from the start. Nothing is lost from previous games except home run derby and king of the diamond.

Graphics 9/10- These graphics are slightly improved from 08 and seem more next gen like. Stadiums feel more natural and realistic, and I like the inclusion of New Yankee Stadium and Citi Field. I also feel characther creation is more customizable such as ability to wear sunglasses now and more facial detail. Still, a few character models look off and framerate does get a litle choppy at times.

Sound 10/10- Well, organ music is the same old tunes they play at Wrigley during live Cub's games, but the soundtrack is much better than last years and the ability to use a mic to record your own walk up music and clap chants really adds realism and variety to the sound system. Also, you can add your own songs like last year's game and play those songs during new batting practice and base stealing modes. Announcers are also great, but their calls can grow repetitive. It is nice that you can put your first and last name to be called when creating a player.

Value 10/10- Not many games have great replay, but this game seems more like the real game of baseball and includes long desired batting practice mode and more customization to your character and ability to record and send clips of games to friends. Trophies are also included and most of them require hard work and practice to earn. I am pleased to say that this is the king of all baseball games I've ever played.

Tilt 8/10- Overall, this game is great, but only gets a 9 because next year will further improve to make this series more realistic. Things like single A minors, more minor league stadiums, body size and shape for career mode, more variety the the announcer's calls, better animations, and the list can keep going on for the MLBs to come year after year. This game delivers everything the revolutionary series brought is included plus more. All baseball fans should buy this, it is truly the best.
