Ever wonder what A-Rod would look like if he were a Goomba?
However, if you're a fan of baseball games, this is one you shouldn't miss.
I really wasn't expecting much when I first picked up the game, but now I can't stop playing it.
The first thing that is going to hit you is the players. The Major's finest are portrayed as legless, mouthless midgets with huge eyes.
Dispite this, it's actually pretty easy to recognize the game's top players.
The gameplay is simple but fun and the season mode is as deep as any, if not deeper. The graphics are nothing special, but all 30 MLB ballparks are faithfully recreated.
Ultimately, though, it's the title's charm that will win over most people. The players will often exibit cartoonish features.
Hitters who miss badly will spin around and fall on thier butts and pitchers who are getting roughed up while have birds flying around thier heads.
It may sound goofy, but it's actually pretty amusing.
The only bad part of the game is the Success Mode. In theory, it is similar to the career modes in several other games,
However, it is ultimately little more than a text-based sim game. There are a few opportunites to play, but not enough.
This wouldn't be as big a deal if you could create players outside of it.
Unfortuantely, you can't.
Fortunately, after completeing Success Mode the first time, you can select Short Cut Mode, but it does really help that much.
Last but not least, players can FINALLY have long hair. I know that doesn't sound like much, but it's something that 2K has negletted in the past.
All told, this is a fun, if somewhat kiddie, ball game that most MLB fans should enjoy.
