Something different then your average baseball sim.

I usually don't go out and buy a game blindly without reading review in some form or another. But the screenshots looked so interesting that I thought I'd try this one out before gamespot had a chance to score it. I gotta say that this game isn't bad at all. I've never played the previous one so I can't compare the two, but this game is very refreshing after playing games such as MVP baseball 2005 or MLB 2006. This time you can take those great players and bash their heads in to your hearts content, which is always good of course. This game does have it's share of great features like Home run derby, season mode, challenge mode, etc. A few things that really stand out with this game are the special pitches, where the player has the chance to throw an extreme off the wall pitch after gaining 5 non-consecutive K's, and the trick pitches, where the player can enter button sequences during the pitchers windup, which results in a more extreme version of the original pitch. I don't mind that the midway didn't include any type of trading and management mode because I don't think that's what they were after in this game. This isn't a sim, it a head bashing arcade basically. The controls are very simple and quite responsive, which is extremely important in a baseball game. From what I know, this is probably one of the better head bashers in the baseball genre, and is quite worth the 20 dollars.
