Monopoly for the NES is great fun, even to this day.

When people think of third party games these days, they usually know that a Tetris game is coming along, as well as a ton of board game franchises. Monopoly is one of these franchises. To me, this is probally the best one in the franchise. The later incarnations might have brought some new innovations to the video games, but this keeps it pure, simple, and the most important factor- fun.

Monopoly, basically, is about real estate. You collect as many territories and railroads as you can, and the winner is the last one who isn't bankrupt. Thankfully in the video games, you can set a timer, and the winner with the most net worth wins. This makes Monopoly your game, and you can set it and play it as long as you want.

The sound really shines in Monopoly. The music is engaging and will leave you humming along with it for a long time to come. The sound effects, such as the roll of a dice or a stamp on a newly sold territory are crisp and have an added touch to the game. Graphically, it's on par with any other NES game.

This is perhaps the best Monopoly version out of all of the other versions available now. the Game Boy version, if you can find it, is a direct port of this game, with less colors. the SNES version is basically the same, with added effects and better graphics. But I grew up with this game, so I choose this Monopoly as the best one.
