An amazing addition to the Monster Hunter series, and to RPG's on the PSP's. With almost no drawbacks whatsoever!
Monster Hunter: Freedom is probably one of the best PSP game's there is to date in terms of replay value and 'fun'. I've heard alot of negative things about this game, but when i turned on my PSP I was absolutely dead certain that many people didn't comment on it's overall potential.
With a few minor drawbacks, such as there being no ability to lock on to enemies, making the camera movement very frustrating, might cause a few gamer's to turn off their PSP's.
The graphics of this game however, have been in my honest opinion, one of the best there is to date on the PSP, better then Syphon Filter and other games. The game itself gives game devolopers an example of how RPG's should be on the PSP.
As seen in the forums, and in some reviews, there have been complaints about the 'online' feature of this game. With the development of Xlink Kai, the software that helps tunnel PSP's from one place to another, it's not that hard to connect with friends!
Although the difficulty, as most people in the forum refer to it as a 'noob killer game' is undoubtedly hard, which gives most gamers, especially hardcore ones, a definitive challenge that could go on forever.
The gameplay itself, does not exist solely on the Hack n' Slash, such as Dynasty Warriors, it allows you to use tactics to help bring your enemies down, with the clever use of pitfall traps and varieties of bombs. The option to customize your character allows gamers to have a personal grasp in the game, making one's unique experience different from others, not to mention the crude use of artillery and weaponry you can use, you have a major variety of how you attack! This also includes armor, where you can choose to have a full set or mix between sets for a distinctive feel. A preview of all the armor sets (in full) can be found here - http://www.geocities.jp/data774/male.html (Credit to whoever posted this link in the forum, i apologize i can't remember which topic i found this in!).
The music in the game definitely suits the mood of the game, not to mention some comical relief in the game, such as the option to cook meat or play with your pet.
Conclusion - The game, as many other reviews have mentioned, can really annoy you, or can get you addicted. With such a large world and a variety of options, the game gives gamers a chance to enter the world of Monster Hunting, and help provide entertainment, and frustration, for hours on end.
