A good time but welcomes defeat.

I would just like to say before I start this that I have not invested 100+ hours into this game but this is my impression after about half of that. Monster Hunter is full of customization and beasts. You get to pick your armor, pick your type of weapon, make your weapon, upgrade your weapon, and kill stuff. This all falls into a quest system which is quite fun...until you are given the task to slay a dragon or steal an egg. Almost any non-hardcore gamer would absolutely give up at this point. I got past a few of these missions but they just became too aggravating. The combat is clunky and quite hard to control while using one of the more powerful weapons. It just seems that one drawback leads to another while playing. Too many monsters, a huge dragon always chasing you, difficult combat, the disability to block while using certain weapons, cats stealing your items (if you don't know what I'm talking about..you will), and all of these other things. Yes, all of these can be overcome but they are extremely discouraging and will cause the majority of players to give up. If you are a hardy action-adventure gamer who can take a beating and keep going then this game would be great for you. Everyone else, rent it first and see what you think.
