An imporvment but still need alot of work...
After installing the game and starting it up I was impressed by the nice menus and the awesome videos playing in the background. So I plugged in my Xbox 360 controller and went to the option screen to adjust my controls and.. what?!?! Not even a option to look at controls or adjust them. Ummm okay then I'll have to wing it. Just wanting to jump into the game and see what happens I went to a single event and jumped in a truck and hit the freestyle event. Game loads quick and the graphics looked awesome as the announcer gives a nice introduction of the truck and then after a 3 sec count down I mashed that gas and shot off to smash some stuff... Well... Shot off wouldn't be the right word.. Maybe putted off. I mean it was really slow and felt unreal. If you have seen a modern day monster you know when they mash the throttle the trucks get up and go. Not happenong here.
So after putting around for a bit and figuring out the controls I approched a car stack and mashed the throttle and turbo (yes turbo) and the front wheel lifted off the ground and then landed on the car stack and then I just rolled off the other side. Very unrealistic of how a real truck does it in real life. As for the turbo it really should be called a flame shooting noise maker! Cause that is about all it does. It may give you a little more speed but nothing like a turbo should. Why is there even a turbo as the real monster have nothing like this. I thought maybe it was just the way I hit the stack that made the stunt boring I tried again on another car stack and this time launched up in the air like 20 feet and did a flip and landed on my side and bounced then rolled on my roof and then with no forward momentum back on my wheels.. Again not like the real things.
So after being disapointed in the arena free style event I when to look at what other things I could do. Then I saw the nail in the coffin.. Off road circuit... after taking a spin is this lame event I just stopped playing. Disapointment has set in. Another boring, non-realistic Monster Jam game.
In ending I would like to say that this is an improvment from the other Monster Truck games that have come out but still needs alot of work. Activision said they talked to fans to see what they wanted in a game but must not have gone to real events to see what they were like. Next time they think of making a Monster Jam game maybe attend a event and actualy see what a event is like then model the game after this. Also something else to menstion. NO MUTIPLAYER EVENTS!!! I mean what the heck! This game might have been fun if I could smash stuff with friends but nope. So now this game sits in the bowls of my PC and the CD is going to gather dust. Nice try Activision but no cookie!
