It's easy to say a game is bad, the graphics resemble a AAA game that came out in 2006, with the exception of the cut-scene cgi graphics which quite honestly must have taken up most of the visuals budget because they look ridiculously lifelike. The gameplay is nothing special to be frank, although i do love kicking creatures to death when you have a perfectly good gun handy. I wish this had come out a few years back on the original Xbox because at least back then it wouldn't have been out-casted due to its presentation and more people would have liked it, allowing the companies behind the project to put more into future games. I bought this game after reading all the awful reviews, terrible ratings, and the like. And I bought this game for two reasons only 1: Deadly Premonition which turned out to be one of my favorite survival horror games. 2: a singles still frame of the gameplay that featured a burly looking protagonist with a spike coming out of his arm and looking like a mutated freak with a very much larger mutated freak serving as a boss in a ruined office building. This immediately grabbed my attention because to me it looked like a low flying version of Prototype, which was just plain awesome. Once I bought the game I was pleasantly surprised to find that I genuinely liked this game, from the stock gunplay to the random sparks of outrageous difficulty. I particularly enjoyed the alien upgrade system, and all the fun perks that came with your alien powers. I wrestled, in writing this review, with the decision as to what I would put in the 'classification' box. At first I put surprisingly good, but then again I was always hoping it would be good so that didn't really surprise me much. Then I had it as grows on you, but it had me hooked from the beginning so that was out too, then i put worth playing but really my score settles my opinion on that, so Don't Believe the Hype seemed to be the perfect description because all the hype was just bad bad bad, the exact opposite of this little adventure.
