I bought this game new and it was dirt cheap, I had never heard of it, and bought it simply from the description on the box and the pictures. I've read some of the unsavory reviews for this game and I have to say that many of them are pretty spot on if maybe a little harsh. First of all don't bother buying this game unless it is very cheap and your are jonesing for some straightforward run and gun type action. Morph X doesn't really do anything great, but it did one thing succesfully. Morph X kept me entertained for the few days that I played it. The visuals are very much behind the times. It just doesn't look that great and it had some popin issues as well as some screen tearing. The attention to detail just isn't there. For instance when you throw switches your character doesn't reach up, the switch just kind of moves on its own. The music in the game actually sets a moody feel and although it doesn't blow you away it was satisfying to the ears. The controls are suficient and responsive. The story is basically non-existent or at the very least confused and pointless(its a low budget russian title so what do you expect). Its an alien invasion and you are a partially converted human/alien looking for a cure. I've heard reviews talking about the ridiculous difficulty and I just didn't see it that way. There were times when the game presented a reasonable challenge, but never was it overwhelming. There were a lot of spawning enemies, but I always felt like the character was more than capable to handle things and if you master the leveling up process he becomes a powerful joy to control. Having said that, the leveling up/skill acquisition process is a little confusing and underexplained at first, but once you figure it out it isn't so bad. Morph X has some good ideas when it comes to character enhancement as well as combat. Unfortunately the games other issues cast too dark a cloud over it to make the game truly competent. This game is not innovative. It is a cheap game and should be viewed as such.
Bottom Line: If you want a functional 3rd person run and gun with a fun protagonist and you don't want to spend much dough then this is an ok choice.
